So it has been awhile since I updated and I apologize for being so late with this but it has been rough. We went through a few awful colds and Rhys has finally hit his 4 month sleep regression. I will come back to that later. Christmas is quickly approaching and my son is 5 amd a half months old. Oh how the time has flown. He now gets solids twice a day instead of once amd he is doing so well! He gets his cereal in the morning now and he gets sweet potatoes for dinner. He still gets a bit of formula with each meal as well as at least 2 other bottles during the day, including his bedtime bottle. He is now reaching for toys and learning how to reach for people when he wants to be picked up. We are still working on the whole sitting on our own thing but he's getting there. Along with his new found sleep regression he is also wanting to be held more, likely due to being tired so often.

So details on sleep regression. I actually got very lucky in this department. For one, he only wakes up once after bedtime for a couple of hours, almost like he wants a 3rd nap but there's no time between when he wakes up and bedtime. His day time naps are a decent length causing this dillema. But for the second part, my fiancé likes to be up late at night and is good for the most part at keeping Rhys quiet so I sleep through most of his wake up times. So, it's only the nights he is at work late that I have to be with the baby when he wakes. Usually it's not the middle of the night either. Bedtime is getting increasingly harder but the nights I can get him to sleep relatively close to his 8:30-9pm bedtime then he wakes between 10:30-11pm and stays up til 1am or even sometimes 2am. When his dad works late the latest is 12am so luckily he takes over at that point. Also, he isn't usually that late aside from weekends which we haven't experienced yet. We are only on about day 5 so it hasn't been awful yet. I'm really hoping it only lasts the approximate 2 weeks that it should otherwise we may have a different problem on our hands.

On another note, my fiancé is changing careers and him doing night shift will start to get harder because he will be working early mornings, meaning I will have to do night shift and morning shift. My son is still waking between 8-9am which isn't horrible but being up til 1 or 2 and then waking up with him is going to suck. I can't fall asleep on a dime and I have like a half hour of bedtime routine for myself after Rhys goes to bed so if he only sleeps an hour I don't sleep or if so very little before he wakes up again. I'm lucky to still live with family as I definitely have been taking advantage of napping when my son does to avoid sleep deprivation and insanity. I do although help with some chores when he will let me put him down. That is also when I eat. He is currently sleeping but I wanted to take a quick minute to check in and make sure you all knew I'm definitely not done this blog just been busy with a sick kid and some sleep regression. Trying to make the best still and I am wishing all parents out there the best with their families. I'm hoping to post again before Christmas but if not I will do a Christmas post just after Christmas. I'm going to try to post more but honestly the older Rhys gets the less there is to post about I am finding. He is slowing down on development a bit but, oh my is he growing. Soon enough he will tower over his dad and I and be making a life of his own. Again wishing everyone the best and happy holidays!
